Tacos

Ground Beef Tacos 2 pound ground beef 2 teaspoon ground cumin 2 teaspoon smoked paprika 1 teaspoon garlic powder 1 tablespoon chili powder 1 teaspoon salt Pico 1 pint cherry tomatoes, quartered ½ sweet onion, diced ¼ cup cilantro, chopped ½ lime, juiced pinch of salt and pepper 1 teaspoon black pepper Toppings Mozzarella, shredded Monterey Jack, shredded Sour Cream Lettuce, jullienned Avocado, mashed or sliced Steps: Pico 1. Prepare the pico first dice tomatoes, onion, and cilantro and place in a small bowl. 2. Add lime juice, salt, and pepper. 3. Toss the ingredients together and cover the bowl so that the pico marinates,  Meat 1. Heat oil in a pan/sjillet if cooking turkey or chicken. Beef is fatty on its own. When the pan is hot, add the meat and break it up with a spoon.  2. Stir the meat until it starts to brown. 3. Add spices and salt to the meat and continue cooking until fully browned.  Serve 1. Honey Glazed Salmon

Ingredients 1/3 c.  honey 1/2 c. soy sauce 2 tbsp.  lemon juice 1 tsp.  red pepper flakes 1/3 c  extra-virgin olive oil salmon fillets, skin on, patted dry with a paper towel| salt black pepper 3 cloves garlic, minced 1.     Preheat oven to 450F 2.    Season salmon with salt and black pepper to taste 3.    Wrap salmon in foil wrap, skin side down and place in oven. 4.    Bake salmon until cooked  through 12-15  mins, it should be easily flaked with a fork, but still light pink. 5.    In a medium bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, lemon juice and red pepper flakes. 6.    Unwrap salmon, and pour the honey mixture over the salmon, and place in the broiler on high for 5 mins. Update: Enjoy! This goes great with salad or with yellow/wild rice. 

Earth Day Cookies

Ingredients 3/4 cup  salted butter (room temperature) 2/3 cup white sugar 1 tablespoon vanilla extract 1 egg 2 cups of all purpose flour blue and green food coloring circle cookie cutter 1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. 2. Prep your cookie sheet with parchment paper or non-stick spray. 3. Cream together butter and sugar. 4. Add vanilla and the egg and stirs to mix. 5. Mix in the flour 1 cup at a time.  6. Separate the dough into two bowls. 7. Add blue coloring to one bowl and green to the other. Mix until the dough is evenly colored. Roll each clump of dough into a ball. 8. Roll each dough ball out to 1/4 inch thick. 9. Break and press pieces of the green dough onto the blue dough.  10. Roll out the land and sea one more to 1/4 inch thickness. 11. Cut out circles and place on the cookie sheet. 12. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes.  13. Can we make food coloring out of natural ingredients?

Hi Bakers! Tomorrow is Earth Day 🌎 and I was wondering if we could use lovely natural ingredients to make food coloring. Here are some ideas: Red - beets, strawberry, raspberries Orange- Carrots, paprika Yellow- Turmeric Green- Matcha, Spinach Blue- Blueberies (diluted) Red Cabbage + Baking Soda Purple- Blueberries (concentrated), taro root We can boil, mash, or blend these ingredients with water to extract the color and make a solution. Have you ever tried this? We may try to make blue and yellow tomorrow. Feel free to experiment with proper adult supervision at home.

Three Delicious Breakfast Options

Western Omelette  12  eggs salt and seasonings (personal preference) 1/4 cup unsalted butter 1/2 green bell pepper, diced 1/2 red bell pepper, diced 5 oz of ham, diced (about a cup diced) 1 onion, chopped 1/2 cup grated cheese (I like mozzarella or cheddar but it is your choice) 1. In a small bowl, beat together 3 eggs and season them to your taste. Set these aside aside. 2. In a small nonstick pan, heat 3 tablespoons of butter on medium heat. 3. Add the bell peppers and cover the pan with the lid. Cook for about 3 minutes. When the peppers are soft, uncover and raise the heat to medium-high. Next, add the ham and scallions and cook, stirring frequently, until hot, about 1 minute. Transfer the mixture to a bowl. 4. Melt 1/4 teaspoon butter in the pan over medium heat and add 1/4 of the pepper mixture. Pour in the beaten eggs and cook, stirring until cooked. 5. Turn off the heat and, use a rubber spatula to smooth the omelette so that it covers the inside of the ...
